Fixed Contract for a Field Research Consultancy mission in Techlid Lyon for two month (summer contract). As the Economical hub of South-West GrandLyon, Techlid needed a Field Researcher Consultant to conduct a study about Employment situation.

The mission was particularly interesting for its requirements as well as the territory disparity within the sub-region. This part of France’s third biggest city, reveal wide-spread socio-economical gap between population. Indeed, employment rate could vary by the dozen from 20km appart. The data collection phase was very rewarding because of its “human” aspect. The analysis was very compelling due to the nature of the data assembled.

My role was to interview youth center administrator and dress an overview.

For each sub-region, I needed to grasp the economical outlooks for youngsters as well as their own sociological situation to identify employment friction. Combined with INSEE data, I was able to plot all the collected data into a map visualisation of the region. From this tool I was able to pin-point where employment rates were the highest against lower job-demand and higher job-qualification sectors. We used the map visualisation system to overlay other type of data such as public transportation, higher taxation areas, which revealed even more.

By the time the report was handed over, I was back to school and was not able to present its take-aways myself. The report was presented to the regional institution and got great appraisal. I was offered a full-time job shortly after but decided to continue my education instead.
